The production of maple syrup started about 10 years ago with an idea from Allen Bennett. He, along with four others, started collecting maple sap from Manitoba Maple Trees.
They started with 1,000 taps and today have expanded to 5,000 trees. Three on the team collect the sap and Allen completes the evaporating process.
It takes 40 gallons of sap to produce one gallon of syrup.
This syrup has a stronger maple flavour when compared to others. It is just as sweet, but has a definite Saskatchewan flavour.
